The interaction of two or more people, groups, ideas or forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects and subsequently results in a regenerative state in each of the original individual components.

Consider an agricultural reclamation project - one starts with a barren piece of land, a seed or two, nutrients eg manure, water…time and effort. From this can grow a field that could support an industry (apple orchard) or perhaps feed a village (wheat for breads, cereals).

In looking at the issue (of opportunity) at hand, identify the individual elements and separate them. What value does each element have independently of the rest? Have all the affected parties been identified? What is needed to bring forth the value? How can it be combined with the other elements to create synergy?
